February Webinar: USDA Nutrition Guidelines & Implications on Women’s Health

Date: Feb 26, Thursday – 20:00 CET

IMG 4105 Victoria Pena Acuna

Victoria PEÑA ACUÑA

BSc, MSc

About the Webinar:

The updated USDA Dietary Guidelines hold substantial influence over national nutrition policy, clinical counseling, school meals, and public health programming. For women, whose nutritional needs shift significantly across the lifespan and are closely tied to reproductive health, bone integrity, cardiometabolic risk, and hormonal regulation, these recommendations play a central role in shaping long-term health outcomes. Despite being positioned as evidence-based, the current guidelines contain notable gaps, inconsistencies, and areas where emerging research on women’s physiology and chronic disease prevention is insufficiently reflected. The purpose of this webinar is to provide a critical evaluation of the latest USDA Dietary Guidelines and shed light on their impact on women’s health. Participants will examine where the guidelines align with current evidence and where they diverge. The session will highlight overlooked research, discuss potential consequences of existing recommendations, and offer alternative evidence-based strategies that better support women across life stages.

About this Webinar:

The answer to almost any issue is to be better skilled at creating and maintaining boundaries. The research shows that creating and maintaining healthy boundaries leads to better emotional regulation, more effective communication, feeling less anxious and depressed, more satisfying relationships, having more confidence and feeling less overwhelmed. This presentation will teach women health professionals what boundaries really are (most people have this wrong) and how to apply them to be more calm and energized in both your personal and professional life.

April Webinar: Universal Precautions For Trauma-Informed Care And Implications for Women’s Health in Lifestyle Medicine

Date: April 30, Thursday – 20:00 CET

sharon

Sharon Jensen

MSW, BSW

About this Webinar:

There is a need for health providers to be ‘trauma-literate’. Patients who present with stress- and trauma-related health patterns, especially those linked to conflict, displacement, and gender-based violence require a more thoughtful approach. This includes helping women health providers recognise triggers within themselves, especially if they too have a history of trauma.

Attendees will learn:

  • What is Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care
  • How Trauma is linked to Women’s Health
  • How to Provide Trauma-Informed Care for Women in a Lifestyle Medicine Consultation

May Webinar: Protecting Pregnancy with Better Sleep

Date: May 26, Tuesday – 20:00 CET

Dr. Kristal Lau

Kristal Lau

Webinar Purpose:

Maternal cardiovascular health strongly predicts both adverse pregnancy outcomes and long-term cardiovascular risk. Sleep health is recognized as one of the American Heart Association’s Life’s Essential 8 and is a major, underused lever to protect pregnancy. Yet during pregnancy, sleep quality declines across gestation and can remain disrupted postpartum due to physiological and social changes. On top of this baseline disruption, upper airway obstruction and pregnancy-onset sleep-disordered breathing often present not as “classic” obstructive sleep apnea, but as a spectrum. Common snoring may still fragment sleep and amplify sympathetic activation, fatigue, and cardiometabolic strain. Current models emphasize lifestyle changes that can be difficult to implement during pregnancy. This webinar reframes sleep as a modifiable clinical target.

What Attendees Will Learn:

  • Why recognize the spectrum of airway-related sleep disruption in pregnancy,
  • How to identify those at highest risk,
  • Why consider practical, non-invasive management strategies to improve maternal sleep
